Yogi government to rejuvenate government schools under Alankar project

02 April, 2023: In its relentless effort to upgrade level of schooling in state, the Yogi government is all set to provide quality education to boys and girls in government run schools at par with that available in Convent run schools of the state. As part of the initiative, it has launched the ‘Alankar-Project’, wherein to achieve quality education, apart from trained teachers, necessary changes would be made in learning environment, which would enable government schools compete with privately run Convent schools. Presently 2295 government schools exist in Uttar Pradesh, buildings of some were in dilapidated condition due to being very old.

Government schools will be rejuvenated under Alankar project

Earlier, rejuvenation of old government schools and proper development of necessary infrastructure facilities were not being done in the budget, for which the Alankar project was started. For this, a provision of Rs 196 crore has been made for 450 government schools in state. The responsibility of ensuring the use of this amount in a transparent and quality manner has been given to the Secondary Education department.

Seven schools to undergo changes in Prayagraj

Prayagraj has been given priority in this much needed initiative to rejuvenate government schools.
According to District Inspector of Schools DIOS), Prayagraj PN Singh, 7 schools in Prayagraj district had been selected for the project. He informed that the schools that had been selected for this include City’s Government Inter College, Government Girls Inter College, Government Girls Inter College in Industrial Area, Phaphamau and Karchana besides Government Inter College, Shankargarh and Government Inter College, Phulpur. Budget had also been allocated for carrying out necessary changes in selected seven schools, work on which had also commenced after appointing the work agency.

Educational, Non-educational, Infrastructure related works to be undertaken

The budget allocated for the purpose would be used under Alankar project for educational, non-educational and infrastructure related works. It will be used in educational works like room-building, laboratory, library, computer lab, Wi-Fi, smart class, and furniture in schools.
Similarly, in non-academic category of works playground, open-gym, multi-purpose hall, art and craft room, vocational education room, band and sound system would be installed. Also as part of establishment works construction of toilets for boys and girls, drinking water facility, boundary wall of school and other auxiliary works such as electricity system, biometric machines, CCTV, rain water harvesting, solar panels and fire extinguishers would also be installed.
