March 25, 2023: On completion of the first year of the Yogi 2.0 government in Uttar Pradesh, many achievements registered by the government, since it came to power in 2017, can be proudly counted upon, which has helped propel Uttar Pradesh on the path of progress. For example the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan’s accounts have played a very useful role in the modernization and development of the region.
By running a campaign a significant 8.42 crore Jan Dhan accounts have been opened while in Kumbh Mela held in Prayagraj in 2019, through the use of artificial intelligence, a clean and safe Kumbh was organized successfully which was attended by 24 crore devotees.
The state using technology developed and presented an excellent COVID management model during the COVID-19 pandemic while employment was made available to about 45 lakh immigrants arriving from outside the state by conducting skill mapping.
Also till now, about 40 crore vaccination doses have been made available and about 6.25 crore Covid tests are done. All these functions were done through the use of IT technology through the portal.
Work has also been done for making the state secretariat function completely on the e-office system, which enhanced the speed of progress in government works besides ensuring transparency and accountability.
Further to give concrete shape to the ‘Minimum Government, Maximum Governance’ initiative of Prime Minister, Digital India Mission had been implemented on top priority by way of wide publicity of government’s ‘Aadhaar’, ‘Cowin’, ‘Digilocker’ and other digital schemes, the same has been adopted by the state which has put it in a leading position in the country.
To increase the use of mobile and internet in the region and to provide high-quality internet and mobile services, a better ecosystem has been created beside the process of Right of Way has been simplified.
With an aim to connect all 57 thousand gram panchayats of the state with broadband, work on Bharat Net project is being carried out on a priority basis.
Funds are being transferred through DBT to about 2.6 crore farmers every year in the state under Prime Minister Samman Nidhi besides funds under various pension schemes (dependent women, old age, disabled) is being disbursed to over 1 crore beneficiaries. Also, scholarships to 1 crore students are also being given through the same mode. This has made the entire process transparent and quick.
About 58,000 banking sakhis were appointed to provide banking facilities in rural areas which is making the concept of banking at the doorstep come true.
Through e-pass machines in 80,000 fair price shops under the state’s public distribution system, foodgrains was being provided to 15 crore people. This initiative saved Rs 1200 crores per annum besides has also ensured transparency in the entire process. Digital platform ‘mine mitra’ has also played an important role in better mining management.
More than 1.50 lakh Common Service Centers (CSC) have been established in state, through which 272 Services were being provided and 31.5 crore certificates had been issued so far.
For Books, bags, and stationery, Rs 1200 per student is being given to the students studying in primary schools for which Rs 2,300 crores was being transferred annually.
Further through the Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) and Intelligent Traffic Management System in 18 cities of the state, Safe City, Traffic Management and Disaster Management are being implemented effectively.
To encourage and facilitate investment in the region, through Online Single Window Portal ‘Nivesh Mitra’ around 406 services of various departments was being made available and more than 9 lakh NOC/Certificates had been issued so far.
In the last 6 years, owing to digitization done by the government in the field of industrial development, doing business had become easier and about Rs 4 lakh crores has been invested in the state.
During the GIS held between February 10 and 12, investments worth Rs 33.5 lakh crore for 19058 proposals had been received in Uttar Pradesh, which was likely to generate 93 lakhs employment opportnities which in itself represents the faith of global community in Uttar Pradesh.
To digitally empower the youth of higher education institutions in the state, 2 crore tablets and smartphones were being distributed free of cost while over 16 lakh youths had been trained in the latest trades, majority of whom having been provided employment opportunities.
To ensure direct communication between government and the public and for helping them in disaster Dial 112, Chief Minister’s Helpline 1076 and Women Helpline 1090 was being operated effectively.
More than 4 crore grievances have been disposed off qualitatively and quickly so far.
For making the villages turn smart, the state government was developing village secretariats as wi-fi enabled one-stop centre.
Uttar Pradesh accounts for about 60 per cent of the total mobile manufacturing capacity in the country and about 55 per cent of mobile components of the country was being manufactured in the state itself.
Uttar Pradesh has also not only established itself as an excellent startup destination of the country but in the world also. At present 8500 startups and 55 incubators have been established.
Uttar Pradesh is also fast emerging as a data centre hub in India. So far in the state, investment of about Rs 1 lakh crore has been received in this field.
Presently the state has two IITs, one IIM, three Technical Universities, and 763 Engineering Colleges besides 1500 polytechnics and 68 universities in the private and public sectors. These institutions are starting courses on new technologies so that youths of the state would work in the field of the latest technology.
