Lotus blooms again in Kumbh city, BJP registers record win in mayoral poll

May 13, 2023: Once again lotus bloomed in Prayagraj with BJP candidate Umesh Chandra Ganesh Kesharwani registering a thumping win in Mayoral poll by a margin of 1,29,389 votes, counting of which was held at Mundera Mandi on Saturday. In the 31 rounds of counting, Ganesh Kesarwani bagged a total of 2,35,675 votes while his nearest rival Samajwadi Party candidate Ajay Kumar Srivastava got 1,06,286 votes.
Congress bagged third spot with its candidate Prabhashankar Mishra getting 40486 votes while BSP’s Sayeed Ahmed managed fourth position by with 36,799 votes. The number of valid votes in the Prayagraj municipal elections was 4,94,344. In Prayagraj, BJP has won the post of Mayor for the second consecutive time with the biggest victory margin recorded for the post of Mayor of BJP so far.
Prior to this, BJP candidate Abhilasha Gupta Nandi defeated SP’s mayor candidate Vinod Chandra Dubey by 63,000 votes in the last election.

New Mayor accords credit of victory to CM Yogi and PM Modi

BJP’s newly elected mayor Ganesh Kesharwani has given the credit of his victory to Prime Minister Narendra M Modi and UP CM Yogi Adityanath. He said that the way Yogi Adityanath reposed faith in a common party worker, the people of Prayagraj will always be indebted to him. Due to the good governance and development policies of the Yogi government, the people of the city have entrusted this responsibility to me, he added. Taking his point forward, he assured that it will be his priority to make Mahakumbh 2025, a grand event by following the policies of the state government on the instructions of UP CM.
