April 11, 2023: A shocking 3295 applicants have been received for a single post in the forthcoming PCS-2023 examinations. As per reports, around 5.70 lakh candidates have applied online for the recruitment on 173 posts of PCS-2023 examinations. The preliminary examination of PCS is proposed to be held on May 14, 2023 while the main examination is scheduled to be held from September 23. The application process for PCS-2023 examinations has been completed.
The online application process for PCS-2023 started from March 3 onwards and the last date for submission of examination fee through online medium was April 3 while the last date for online application was fixed at April 6. Later, the commission extended the last date in view of the difficulties faced by the candidates due to technical glitches which were reported in bank websites which was under maintenance.
The last date for submission of examination fee was extended till April 6 while the last date for online application was extended till April 10. However, the scrutiny of applications is still going on and many candidates have been found to have applied twice. In such a situation, the count of applications could decline.
Challenge for PCS-2023 applicants increases
In PCS 2023, on one hand where the competition has become tough for applicants owing to the limited number of posts, challenge for the preparation for the examination has also increased due to the change in syllabus of main examination. Optional subjects have been removed from PCS-2023 and have been replaced by special two papers of General Studies. Hence, the candidates will now have to prepare afresh.
Fewer applications were received as compared to the last three examinations
As compared to the last three examinations of PCS, this time less number of applications have been received. As per reports, a total of 5,95,696 candidates had applied in PCS-2020, 6,91,173 candidates in PCS-2021 and 6,02,974 candidates had applied for PCS-2022 examinations. However, this time around 5.70 lakh candidates have applied.
