March 25, 2023: Senior judge of Allahabad High Court Justice Pritinker Diwaker was today sworn in as Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court by Anandi Ben Patel, Governor of Uttar Pradesh. The swearing-in ceremony took place in the Chief Justice’s court on Saturday. On this occasion, Minister Suresh Khanna, Chief Secretary Uttar Pradesh, Advocate General Ajay Mishra, Additional Advocate General MC Chaturvedi, Neeraj Tripathi, Manish Goel and other judicial officers, besides a large number of senior and junior lawyers were present on behalf of the state government.
As per the pre-determined schedule, the swearing-in ceremony took place at the court of Chief Justice Court at 11am. After the swearing-in ceremony, the governor met all the dignitaries on the occasion. A photo session with UP Governor was also organized. Judges of Allahabad and Lucknow bench of the High Court were present in the swearing-in ceremony besides family members and relatives of the Chief Justice and sitting judges of Madhya Pradesh.
Justice Pritinker Diwaker started practice in the Chhattisgarh High Court after studying law from Durgavati University, Jabalpur. He was designated as Senior Advocate in 2005. After this, in 2009, he became a judge in the Chhattisgarh High Court.
In 2018, he was transferred to the Allahabad High Court. Justice Rajesh Bindal, who was Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court, was appointed as acting Chief Justice here after he was made a judge of the Supreme Court. After this, on the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium, the President appointed Justice Pritinker Diwaker as Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court.
