April 12, 2023: A case has been registered against 13 people including mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his son Ali for demanding extortion money of Rs 1 crore. Atiq’s special henchman Asad Kalia has also been made as one of the accused. Sabir, a resident of Dhoomanganj locality, alleged that the accused beat him up and threatened to kill him for refusing to pay the extortion money. The Doomanganj police is investigating the issue.
As per reports, one Sabir, a resident of Jafri Colony under Dhoomanganjmpolice station has alleged that on the evening of February 15, Atiq’s henchman Asad Kalia and cousin Aslam Mantri came to his house and said that Ateeq Ahmed had called him to Gujarat. On refusing, he was thrashed of dire consequences and the duo left hurling abuses at Sabri.
Earlier on April 14, 2019 also, Ali, Asad Kalia, Shakeel, Shakir, Sabi, Abbas, Faizan, Saif, Nami, Affan, Mehmood, Maud and Aslam mantri had arrived at Sabir’s ancestral house at Chakia Kasari Masari and asked him to talk to Ateeq Ahmed over phone at gun point. However, when Sabir refused to do so, the culprits started firing but Sabir managed to somehow escape from the scene. It is alleged that Sabir was being pressurized for not appearing in the case against Ateeq Ahmed. Dhoomanganj police station in-charge Rajesh Kumar Maurya on being contacted over the issue informed that investigation was being carried out after registering a case.
Asad absconding for last 16 months, video goes viral
Recently, a video related to this incident had also gone viral on social media. In this video, some people are seen arriving on two vehicles and breaking the door of a house. The victim claimed that this was the video of the incident that happened at his ancestral home in Chakia. It may be mentioned that Asad Kalia, who is an accused in this case, is absconding for last 16 months and is also wanted in two cases in Kareli police station besides in one case in Puramufti police station.
Criminal history of Atiq Clan
According to reports, over 150 cases have been lodged against the family of mafia -turned-politician Atiq Ahmed including 101 cases against Atiq Ahmed and 52 cases against his brother Khalid Azeem alias Ashraf. Also properties worth Rs 11,500 crore belonging to Atiq and his family have been seized so far.
Atiq’s wife Shaista Praveen also has three cases against her name and is carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on her head. Similarly, sons Ali and Umar Ahmad have four case and one case each. UP Police has also announced a reward of Rs 2.5 lakhs for Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad in connection with the Umesh Pal murder case.
