India Tests Indigenous RudraM-II Missile, Boosts Strike Capability

India has successfully tested the indigenous RudraM-II air-to-surface missile, marking a significant advancement in its precision strike capabilities. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), in collaboration with the Indian Air Force (IAF), carried out the flight tests from an airborne platform under demanding operational conditions.
The missile was released under extreme parameters and successfully followed its designated trajectory, striking the target with high accuracy. Data gathered through a network of tracking systems deployed at the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur confirmed that all mission objectives were achieved, demonstrating the reliability of the missile’s systems.
RudraM-II has been developed by the Research Centre Imarat in Hyderabad, which led the project in coordination with several other DRDO laboratories, including the Defence Research and Development Laboratory, High Energy Materials Research Laboratory and Armament Research & Development Establishment. The programme also saw strong support from industry partners and defence public sector units such as Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, along with certification and quality agencies.
The successful test has been welcomed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who praised the efforts of scientists, engineers and the armed forces. He said the achievement reflects the growing strength of India’s indigenous defence ecosystem and underlines progress towards self-reliance in advanced weapon systems.
Senior officials from DRDO also congratulated the teams involved, calling the test a major milestone in enhancing the country’s air-to-ground strike capabilities. The development of RudraM-II is seen as a key step in strengthening India’s ability to conduct precision attacks while reducing dependence on imported technologies.
