The “Chakravyuh” speech during the discussion on Union Budget 2024 seems to have not gone down well with those in power specially “double engine” spearing the government’s proceedings. At least that is what the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi claimed in a post on X, on Friday morning.
The post read claimed that sources in Enforcement Directorate (ED) had informed him that a raid was on the cards on him following his ‘Chakravyuh’ speech during the discussion on Union Budget 2024. His post further stated that the Congress MP (he) was waiting for ED personnel with “open arms,” and “chai and biscuits.”
Taking to X, LOP Rahul Gandhi stated, “Apparently, 2 in 1 didn’t like my Chakravyuh speech. ED ‘insiders’ tell me a raid is being planned. Waiting with open arms @dir_ed…..Chai and biscuits on me.”
The anticipation of a probable ED raid comes after the Congress MP lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 29 during a discussion on Union Budget. In his address, Gandhi had claimed that PM Modi had trapped Indians in a 21 century “Chakravyuh.”
He also chided the Prime Minister for displaying the lotus symbol and stated that a new “Chakravyuh” was being rolled out.
Also in a post on X, the Leader of Opposition had stated “In Kurukshetra, Abhimanyu was trapped and killed in a Chakravyuh – a formation controlled by six people, and also known as Padmavyuh for its resemblance to a lotus formation. Today a 21st century lotus-shaped Chakravyuh is trapping India and is controlled by six figures: Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Adani, Ambani, Ajit Doval, and Mohan Bhagwat.”
The post further mentioned “This modern Chakravyuh has trapped our, Youth in a Chakravyuh of unemployment and paper leak, farmers in a Chakravyuh of debt, Middle class in a Chakravyuh of Tax, MSMEs in a Chakravyuh of Tax Terrorism, Jawans in a Chakravyuh of Agnipath and SC, ST, OBC, Minorities in a Chakravyuh of Anyay.”
Who could be the 2 in 1 ?
Interestingly, the latest post on X claiming an ED raid in offing mentioned of “2 in 1 didn’t like my Chakravyuh speech”. Many a bigwigs in political corridors have been figuring out that was the Congress MP referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah in the post and if it all they were being referred, who could be one in the pair to have been offended.
Says Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) member Javed Urfi, “Gagging truth has been a common tactic of this present government and an ED raid on Rahul Gandhi would not be a surprise as similar politics with other leaders has exposed the real face of BJP government.”
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader also comes up with similar claim
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Friday fiercely targeted the central government. He said that whoever is raises voice against the government to save democracy, a conspiracy is hatched against them and this conspiracy is being hatched from abroad. He said that a conspiracy is being hatched against Rahul Gandhi. Anything can happen. There can also be attacks on Rahul Gandhi. Raut said that in the last one month, we have decimated Modi government under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi which caused the government to lose sleep.
In the past
Media reports revealed that 95% of ED cases since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power in 2014 were against Opposition leaders. Between 2014 and September 2022, 121 prominent leaders came under ED radar, 115 of them Opposition leaders and the list has grown since then.
A recent case in point is that of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who has remained behind bars for most part of this year in an allegedly politically motivated case of corruption.
Several politicians of different political parties in last 10 years, switched on to the saffron brigade either after ED raids were carried out on them or in anticipation of one against them.
