The war goes on. If not on the battle front, it is espionage that still continues to go on in the background. And it’s none other than our own fellow countrymen betraying for a few dimes.
After the show of strength between India and Pakistan, with the latter buckling under pulverizing attack earlier this month, a fallout of the Pahalgam terror killing, at least 13 spies, including a YouTuber and a CRPF jawan, have been nabbed from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi on charges of espionage this month. The arrests clearly indicate a Pakistan sponsored attempt of waging a silent war against India.
Reports revealed, CRPF jawan Moti Ram Jat, the latest to be caught was arrested on charges of spying for Pakistan on May 28, 2025. He was posted in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam and was transferred out just days before the deadly terrorist attack that killed 26 civilians.
He was arrested by National Investigation Agency (NIA) for allegedly passing crucial information pertaining to national security to Pakistan for money.
Reports revealed, most of them had been nabbed from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.
Of those arrested, two are women, a YouTuber from Haryana Jyoti Malhotra, whose social media accounts showed over 3 lakh subscribers besides Guzala (31) from Punjab.
In addition to the arrests made from Punjab and Haryana, an alleged agent of Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI was also arrested from Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur on May 18, 2025 by Special Task Force.
On May 4, Punjab Police arrested Falaksher Masih and Suraj Masih, residents of Ajnala in Amritsar for allegedly leaking sensitive information and photographs of Army cantonment areas and air bases in the border district to ISI.
Two more Guzala (31) and Yameen Mohamad, residents of Malerkotla were arrested by Punjab Police on May 11 for their alleged involvement in spying acts for Pakistan.
During questioning, Guzala had allegedly confessed to having shared confidential information about activities of the Indian Army with Pakistani official posted at the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi.
Meanwhile, Punjab Police Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on May 19, 2025 had announced that two more men, Sukhpreet Singh, resident of Adiyan village in Gurdaspur, and Karanbir Singh, of Chandu Wadala in Gurdaspur, were arrested for allegedly sharing sensitive military information with ISI.
The duo allegedly used to leak sensitive military information, such as troop movements during Operation Sindoor.
Further, on May 15, Haryana cops arrested Nauman Ilahi (24), Kairana in Uttar Pradesh, from Panipat district for allegedly supplying sensitive information to Pakistan.
Haryana Police also a post-graduate student, Devender Singh in Kaithal for doing the same.
Singh had informed during investigations that he was pursuing a Master’s degree in political science from a college in Punjab and that he had also gone to Pakistan on pilgrimage in November last year.
Further, Haryana Police on May 16 also arrested YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra on charges of passing on sensitive information to Pakistan.
On May 18, 2025, Haryana Police arrested 26-year-old man Armaan from Nuh district on charges of spying for Pakistan.
Nuh Police, on May 19, 2025, also arrested a local quack, namely Mohammad Tarif, resident of Kangarka village for allegedly spying for Pakistan.
The Moradabad Special Task Force arrested one Shahzad from Rampur on May 18, 2025 based on information about his alleged involvement in association ISI handlers.
