The Union Home Secretary, Govind Mohan, directed the police chiefs of all states and Union Territories to coordinate closely with the Delhi Police and take preventive measures ahead of the CJP’s proposed protest in the national capital on Saturday.

The CJP has called the protest to demand the resignation of Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. However, the Delhi Police has not granted permission for the demonstration at Jantar Mantar.

In a communication issued on Friday, the Home Secretary had expressed concern that CJP supporters and members could attempt to enter Delhi from various states and Union Territories despite the denial of permission. The letter warned that such movement could pose a serious law-and-order challenge and potentially disturb public peace.

The Home Ministry directed all states and Union Territories to take immediate preventive action within the legal framework to prevent any breach of peace and ensure the safety of critical infrastructure. It also stressed the need for real-time intelligence sharing among state and UT intelligence agencies, border transit authorities and the Delhi Police to effectively monitor the situation and maintain law and order.
