June 07, 2023: The Yogi government as part of its continuous efforts for conservation and rejuvenation of ancient historical buildings and ancient places in state has planned to renovate some old historical buildings in Sangam city also, presently in dilapidated state. One such dilapidated but historically important building is the ‘Chalchitra Kendra’ located on the Mahatma Gandhi marg in Civil Lines area of the city

Rejuvenation campaign of ancient dilapidated buildings

Soon after taking over the reins of Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi government started a campaign to preserve and protect heritage sites. Prayagraj, which was once the capital of United Provinces, has many such buildings of cultural and historical importance, which are presently in ruins buried under layers of dust, soley due to official neglect of various successive governments.

North India’s first Cine-Museum to come up at a cost of Rs 4 crores

This film center was built 70 years ago on Mahatma Gandhi Marg of the city. This was the time when there was neither TV nor visual gadgets. Here films based on the lives of great people and later documentaries giving information about government schemes were prepared. Biopics on Nirala, Mahadevi Verma, Maithilisharan Gupt were made here during their time. Prayagraj Smart City Limited is rejuvenating this building which had remained closed for several decades. According to Sanjeev Kumar Sinha, Technical Manager of the Smart City Project, North India’s first cine-museum is being built in this 621 square meter building. This museum is being built at a cost of Rs 4 crore, for which tenders have also been issued.

A mini movie house, travel gallery of Hindi cinema part of the initiative

This Cine-Museum is being specially prepared for the tourists visiting Prayagraj. Sinha further informed that the complete blueprint of this cine-museum had been prepared which has the museum designed in two parts. A mini cinema house will be constructed in one part of the museum wherein short films related to education and Prayagraj will be screened for tourists while in the second part, there will be a Cine-Gallery, in which projectors, equipment and rare material related to the development of cinema would be put on display.
